Bangkok (March19, 2018) – Chareon Pokphand Foods PCL (CPF) conducted a review on health and safety procedures and initiate additional corrective action to mitigate safety risks effectively, covering 3 aspects including Hardware-Software-Peopleware. The new standard aims to ensure that CPF’s business meets the highest level of safety excellences.
The CPF Safety Health Environment and Energy Management Committee (SHE&En) officially announced the plan to enhance the quality of equipment and tools (hardware), safety management system (Software), and occupational safety skills (Peopleware).
The company has provided more appropriate personal protective and life-saving equipments. It also set to improve safety environment in the working area as well as installing machines or equipment outside of the treatment pond to reduce risks from entering into the area to prevent risks of falling. In addition, Closed-circuit Televisions (CCTV) and appointing officers will undertake 24-hour monitoring in order to prevent unauthorized access to the area.
In term of software improvement, the company set to increase effectiveness of risk management by requiring all business units to review their existing risk assessment to improve their risk control measures. Moreover, CPF enhances safety risk assessment by providing proactive safety measures for visitors, observers and interns covered all business units.
In the aspect of Peopleware, it will organize additional workshops for onsite emergency response teams at each operation to ensure the ability to respond rapidly and effectively to unexpected events relating to critical safety risks. Additional training for operators at each site will be provided to raise awareness on danger from assisting casualties in emergency cases, and to enhance knowledge and understanding of appropriate first-aid procedures
The company fosters safety culture throughout the organization through a series of health and safety training programs for employees at all levels.
Last year, it conducted 105 health and safety training programs aimed to provide employees with a greater understanding of the CPF SHE&En Standard and management of critical safety risks including prevention of electrical hazards, falling from heights, confined space, hazardous chemicals and etc.
