Charoen Pokphand Foods Public Company Limited (CP Foods), leading food tech company, participated at the Sustainability Expo 2022 (SX2022), which was held during September 26 - October 2, 2022, at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, Bangkok. The company’s booth demonstrates "CPF SUSTAINABLE KITCHEN OF THE WORLD TOWARDS NET-ZERO" vision, highlighting eco-friendly innovations throughout its Feed -Farm -Food business. This recognizes the company’s commitment to ensuring to global food security.
At the event, Dr. Sumet Tantivejkul, Secretary-General of Chaipattana Foundation, presided over the opening ceremony and visited CP Foods’ booth which presenting sustainable innovations. The company shares its best practices in term of sustainable food supply chain, innovative foods, and sustainable products.
The booth highlights the company’s innovative plant-based products “Meat Zero”, Thailand’s best-selling plant-based meat. Meat Zero products have received multiple recognitions from Thailand and international institutions, including the THAIFEX-ANUGA Taste Innovation Show 2022 from its invented PLANT-TEC technique to create meat-like taste and texture. The Meat Zero also bagged Superior Taste Award 2022 from International Taste Institute, The Export Initiative of the Year – Food from Manufacturing Asia and BEST PLANT-BASED BRANDING from Root The Future Plant-Based Food Awards 2021.
In addition to Meat Zero, CP Foods promotes its dedication to packaging development that in line with Design for Recycling concept and the circular economy. The company has advocated for the use of mono material packaging in which all layers are made of the same type of plastic, making it easier to recycle. Furthermore, CP Foods applies recycled materials in a variety kind of packaging such as fresh eggs tray that have 80% recycled plastic content. The company continues to promote the use of alternative materials like biodegradable packaging.
CP Foods shares its experiences with sustainable production and consumption and its commitment to SDGs 12 (responsible consumption and production), with an emphasis on low-carbon products and responsible sourcing according to the circular economy.
CP Foods also exhibits its Innovative Process so-called, Smart Feed -Farm -Food. Green Factory, a prototype factory of the future, which is designed as energy-saving buildings and production processes. There are presentations on the variety of eco-friendly technologies and practices used in the company’s operations such as the use of clean energy, waste to energy generation, water recycling system, environmental conservation projects, carbon footprint evaluation, etc. Meanwhile, it plans to phase out coal usage in all Thailand’s operation (Coal Free 2022) by this year. This work has significantly contributed to achieve the company’s net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 target, which is in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
