Employees from Charoen Pokphand Foods PCL. (CP Foods) led by Prasit Boondoungprasert, Chief Executive Officer, have witnessed the CPF Grow-Share-Protect Mangrove Forestation Project at Bang Ya Phraek Subdistrict in Samut Sakhon Province, as a part of the company’s project to encourage its own employees to take part in its CSR activities.
The CP Foods volunteers have visited the ecotourism route, which the company has supported the community to initiate the activities to enhance their quality of life. This eco-tourism route was made by the cooperation between government agencies, the private sector and local communities in an effort to promote coexistence between human and nature. The project also generates sustainable income for the people in the area.
CEO Prasit said that the CPF Grow-Share-Protect Mangrove Forestation Project has established in 2014 to conduct conservation and restoration of mangrove forests totaling an area of 2,388 rai in strategic areas of 5 provinces, namely Samut Sakhon, Rayong, Songkhla, Phang Nga and Chumphon. The company continued the second phase (2019-2023) covering 2,784 rai of mangrove reforestation and restoration in Samut Sakhon, Rayong and Trat areas.
He added that the visit objective was first-hands experience the progress in conservation and restoration of the mangrove forest that Bang Ya Phraek Subdistrict, Samut Sakhon Province, where the collaboration between government agencies, the company and local residents have co-created the forest area to 104 rai and plans to plant 266 rai more of mangrove forests.
Besides reforestation project, CP Foods also builds community engagement by initiating "Trap the sea Trash" project to raise awareness on ocean plastic waste among the local community leading to garbage dumping reduction and management to protect Gulf of Thailand
CP Foods CEO encourages employees to take part in the company's forest conservation programs such as CPF Rak Nives at Phraya Doen Thong, Lopburi Province , and other areas of The CPF Grow-Share-Protect project.
