CP Foods is committed to sustainable business growth, making biodiversity one of the main focus areas in its sustainability strategy. The company has continuously carried out environmental projects such as the "Rak Niwes Pasak Watershed, Khao Phraya Dern Thong Project" in Lopburi province, which aims to conserve and restore watershed forests and promote biodiversity. Now entering its ninth year, the project has yielded positive results for the economy, communities, and the environment.
Recently, the terrestrial animal feed business of CP Foods, encompassing all 12 factories and led by executives and employees, along with KSP-KPI—subsidiaries of Charoen Pokphand Group—local communities, and community committees around the feed production plants, totaling over 200 people, visited the project area. Together, they planted seedlings and created artificial salt licks to serve as food sources for wildlife. The activities were guided by the Department of Forestry and CP Foods' Strategic Committee for Watershed Forest Conservation and Restoration.
This initiative helps enrich the forest and promote biodiversity. Volunteers learned how to cultivate strong local tree species suitable for the forest environment, including seed preparation, soil preparation, and seedling cultivation in nursery bags. They also learned how to make seed balls for dispersal in various forest areas, which helps increase the natural germination rate—an approach to forest restoration that mimics natural processes. Additionally, they learned about big tree management (arboriculture) to understand the principles of caring for large trees to maintain their beauty and safety, guided by instructors from the Forest Resources Management Office No. 5 in Saraburi.
Furthermore, participants received knowledge and advice from the head of the Kaeng Khoi Wildlife Non-Hunting Area on creating artificial salt licks. This involved digging soil on sloped areas to form basins and mixing in various minerals such as calcium, potassium, and sea salt. When it rains or there's moisture, the soil becomes a source of essential minerals and nutrients for herbivores and ungulates, enhancing the ecosystem's richness within the project area.
CP Foods places great importance on environmentally friendly business operations, continuing to participate in protecting biodiversity and maintaining the balance of nature. This commitment is part of our mission to create sustainable food security.
