Charoen Pokphand Foods PCL (CPF)’s Sustainability Report 2019 won three awards including two Gold class in Supply Chain Reporting and Community Reporting as well as a Silver class in Environment Reporting at the Asia Sustainability Reporting Awards (ASRA), reflecting the company’s operation commits to transparency and responsibility.
Mr.Wuthichai Sithipreedanant, Senior Vice President for Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainable Development of CPF, said it is the first year that the company has submitted the awards and honored won such prestigious awards. The company strives to produce healthy, safe, and quality food, ensuring food security for its consumers across the world while working alongside with its business partners and communities to help them achieve sustainable growth.
“CPF continues to drive the business towards sustainable growth together with our stakeholders, following the three pillars of our sustainability strategy, “Food Security, Self-Sufficiency Society, and Balance of Nature” that we have committed to. The company also wants to reflect the sustainable performance of all CPF employees in our annual sustainability report properly, transparent, and responsible,” Mr. Wuthichai said, pointing that these achievements will also directly contribute to 11 out of 17 the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
CPF’s Sustainability Report in 2018 achievement in Gold Class in Asia Best Supply Chain Reporting Award has stemmed the company’s communication in its supply chain with transparency. In addition, its operation has an excellent report to help reduce risk within its supply chain.
Moreover, the Gold Class in Asia’s Best Community Reporting Award has reflected the company’s best reporting impacts to community and its excellent preform to help solve the problem.
The Silver Class in Asia’s Best Environmental Reporting has clearly presented the CPF’s strong commitment and result operation as well as environmental impacts on its business.
The winners were selected from 461 entries received from 16 countries in Asia. The 2019 ASRA saw 80 shortlisted companies from 13 countries competing in the finals across 19 awards categories.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the award presentation was held yesterday in the form of live broadcast in Singapore. More than 200 senior business leaders and sustainability professionals from 15 countries attended the exclusive awards ceremony hosted virtually.
As institutional investors are getting more serious about a company’s sustainability performance, sustainability reporting has become an essential tool for communicating how the reporting organization manages its material economic, environmental and social impacts, risks and opportunities to build a sustainable business.
