CP Group and CPF Mark 36 Years of Enhancing Rural Student Nutrition through "Raising Layer for Student's Lunch" Program

CP Group and CPF Mark 36 Years of Enhancing Rural Student Nutrition through "Raising Layer for Student's Lunch" Program

Charoen Pokphand Group has collaborated with CPF, and the CP Rural Lives Development Foundation continue to advance their “Raising Layer for Student's Lunch" Program through 36 years of operation. The initiative currently serves 988 schools nationwide, benefiting over 223,000 students, 16,500 teachers, and numerous communities through both direct and indirect impacts.

Mr. Jomkitti Sirikul, Senior Executive Vice President of Sustainability and Government Affairs at CP Group, revealed that the “Raising Layer for Student's Lunch" Program focuses on promoting proper nutrition for children and youth in remote rural areas across Thailand. Through fresh egg production, the program provides essential protein sources that address malnutrition while supporting age-appropriate physical and cognitive development.

Additionally, it enhances quality of life by creating hands-on learning experiences in layer raising, farm management, and product management, developing into an "Action Learning Base" where students and communities can gain hands-on experience and skills including animal husbandry, accounting, sales, marketing, and egg product value addition.

CP Group, CPF, and the Foundation are continuing to expand the program to strengthen food security across the country. They aim to add 25 new schools annually, aiming to reach over 1,000 schools nationwide by 2030.

Currently, the program enables support 300,000 children and youth with access to safe and nutritious food. As of the end of 2024, the program operates in 988 schools nationwide, producing over 27.6 million eggs annually, benefiting 223,000 students, 16,500 teachers, and surrounding communities.

Currently, the program has evolved into an Action Learning Base, offering hands-on experience for students and communities. The Foundation collaborates with participating schools to develop layer farming curricula focusing on farm management, finance, and career development, aiming for sustainable student entrepreneurship. They are working with the Ministry of Education to integrate this into the core curriculum in the future.

Mr. Somkid Wannalukkhee, Head of Layer Business at CPF, stated that CPF has continuously supported the program for 36 years, leveraging the company's expertise in integrated agro-industrial and food business to transfer knowledge, experience, and technology applications to students and teachers. This includes standardized animal husbandry systems and management, along with veterinary support, enabling small farm management and school self-reliance. Importantly, the program emphasizes sustainable production management, both for student lunches and community sales, creating a revolving fund for program continuity and future generations.
