Charoen Pokphand Foods Public Company Limited (CP Foods) has proudly announced that its Jakkarat Layer Complex in Nakhon Ratchasima Province received the prestigious "Best BCG Economy Model" certificate. The honor was bestowed by CP Foods as part of the Low Carbon Industry Development Project, initiated by the Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (Public Organization) or TGO, and the Center of Excellence on Environmentally Friendly Business Strategy (VGREEN) at Kasetsart University. This accolade highlights the layer complex as the only entity from the food industry among six business organizations selected to drive the Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) economic model towards Net Zero goals.
The Jakkarat Layer Complex, an integrated layer supply chain from breeder farms to egg grading plants, serves as a pioneering model farm that operates entirely on renewable energy and effectively reduces waste throughout its production processes. Somkid Wannalukkhee, Head of the Egg Business at CP Foods, detailed the project's success in embracing BCG principles to harness biogas from chicken manure, converting it to renewable energy. This innovative system not only generates electricity but also treats and recycles wastewater, eliminating the need for external water sources.
The complex's commitment to sustainability extends through various initiatives, including the Smart Egg Transport System that reduces egg damage and the Fertilizer Water Sharing Project which provides local communities with biogas sediment as fertilizer. Additionally, CP Foods is dedicated to environmental conservation, promoting the growth of green spaces within the farm area.
