JCC and CP Foundation for Rural Life launch the 23rd Raising Layer for Student's Lunch” Project

Deputy Governor of Chiang Rai Province, Supaphan Muncharoen presided over the handover ceremony of the Raising Layer for Student's Lunch” Project sponsored by Japanese Chamber of Commerce, Bangkok (JCC), CP Foundation for Rural Life, and Charoen Pokphand Foods PCL. (CP Foods) aiming to promote students in rural Thailand to access to good food and nutrition for over 23 years.

The handover ceremony was held at Ban Nang Lae Nai School, Nang Lae Subdistrict, Mueang District, Chiang Rai Province, and was attended by Noriaki Yamashita, Vice President of JCC, Somkid Wannalukkhee, senior vice president of CP Foods, and Jomkitti Sirikul, senior vice-president of CP Group.

This year, 5 schools in Chiang Rai, Prae, and Phetchabun Provinces including Ban Nang Lae Nai School, Wiang Hao Wittaya School, Ban Sri Don Chai Community School Pracharath Wittayakhan School and Ban Pong Tabak Border Patrol Police School have begun to participate this program.

The joint project aims at eradicating malnutrition among children and youth in remote areas of Thailand by providing layer houses and teach them to run to operate egg farms. Subsequently, they can run the farm sustainably and gain food security.

Aside from health benefits, the student will be able to gain first-hand experience on agribusiness management, which would benefit their future career development.

At present, 930 schools in 75 provinces are participating in the project, benefiting over 180,000 students, 1,000 teachers and 1,900 communities.
