"Waste No More Project" wins the first prize in CPF Sustainability in Action Awards 2024

Charoen Pokphand Foods Public Company Limited (CP Foods) has been recognized for its commitment to sustainability. The company's "Waste No More: Continuing Sustainability from Swine Business" project has won the first prize at the "CPF Sustainability in Action Awards 2024" in the Sustainable Community Care Project category. This achievement highlights CP Foods' ongoing efforts to engage employees in initiatives that benefit both local communities and the environment.

Mr. Chaiwat Viboonsawat, Former Chairman of the Stock Exchange of Thailand, and M.L. Dispanadda Diskul, Secretary-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Mae Fah Luang Foundation, served as judges for the final round and presented awards to CP Foods employees who demonstrated exceptional creativity in social, community, and environmental projects. The event was also attended by Mr. Prasit Boondoungprasert, Chief Executive Officer of CP Foods, Ms. Kobboon Srichai, Head of Corporate Affairs & Investor Relations, along with other senior executives who extended a warm welcome to all participants.

The "CPF Sustainability in Action Awards 2024" marks its ninth year, with a total of 61 projects participating—49 projects from CP Foods operations in Thailand and 12 projects from international operations in Vietnam, Malaysia, the Philippines, Cambodia, and Laos.

The first-place award went to the "Waste No More: Continuing Sustainability from Swine Business" project. This initiative emphasizes waste management in production processes across all business units. Adhering to the "Waste to Value" principle, the project transforms waste into valuable resources throughout the production chain, resulting in "Good Ash, Good Water, Good Gas, Good Sludge." This approach reduces energy consumption, lowers household expenses, and increases income for farmers and communities.

Second-place awards were presented to two projects: "Tree Planting for a Sustainable Vietnam" from CPF Vietnam and "From Heart to Heart for the Elderly in the Community" from the Land Animal Feed Production Business. Third-place awards were given to three projects: "Kamphaengphet Agricultural Village 45 Years – Sharing Knowledge with the Community" from the Swine Business; "Joining Hands to Fulfill Dreams: Encouraging Good People Back to Society at Khao Phrik Prison" from the Swine Business and Layer Chicken Business; and "CPF Plant, Share, and Protect Mangrove Forests Towards Sustainable Eco-Cultural Tourism for Communities" from the Aquaculture Business.

Additionally, six projects received Recognition Awards for aligning with and supporting economic, social, and environmental goals while creating shared value for society. These projects include "Prolonging the Lives of Thai Elephants" and "CPF Feed Waste to WoW" from the Land Animal Feed Production Business; "Nong Wa Agricultural Village 2024" from the Swine Business; "Disease-Free Animals, Safe Food" from the Broiler and Duck Meat Business; "JR Market" from the Aquaculture Business; and "Purchasing Agricultural Products Within the Country" from CPF Cambodia.

Dr. Chaiwat Viboonsawat praised the dedication of the employees, stating: "I am delighted to see the progress and collaboration in CP Foods' sustainability efforts. It's inspiring to witness the involvement of executives and employees at all levels. From leadership providing frameworks and plans to every employee taking concrete actions—starting from matters close to them and expanding to initiatives that benefit everyone. Be proud of bringing good things and creating value from what we do for communities, society, and the company. Today's activities allow everyone to see examples of good practices from other departments and gain ideas that can be applied to their own projects. To drive CPF's work and our own towards sustainability, we must think about the positive impact."

M.L. Dispanadda Diskul added: "We can no longer do business without considering the impact. The extent depends on our methods. I hope that today's feedback will be used to improve ourselves, our organization, and most importantly, the community and nature, making them better than before. Thank you for everyone's commitment and dedication. I encourage you to succeed in this endeavor because today we need great collective power to drive solutions to climate change, which cannot be achieved alone. CP Group can help drive and create change with impact on the global stage."

Mr. Prasit Boondoungprasert, CEO of CP Foods, commented: "CP Foods encourages employees to participate in creating shared value with society by engaging in sustainability activities that align with best practices and have a positive impact. We adhere to the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy and the 'Three Benefits' principle of our Senior Chairman, Dhanin Chearavanont, focusing on creating food security throughout the value chain while taking care of society and the environment. With employee participation, we aim to care for surrounding communities and protect the environment. Today's event is a platform to share community engagement practices from each division, fostering mutual learning and receiving valuable feedback from our honorary judges and esteemed committee members. This will help us generate even more positive outcomes for society. I encourage all teams in their commitment to create good things and set a strong example in conducting business alongside continuous social value creation. Such cooperation will drive our organization to achieve its sustainability goals."
