Charoen Pokphand Group teamed up with Charoen Pokphand Foods Public Company Limited (CP Foods) and True Corporations provided food, water, and TrueMove H sim cards to assist Thailand disaster relief teams assisting in the search and rescue earthquake survivors in Turkey and Syria. Mr.Prasit Boondoungprasert, Chief Executive Officer of CP Foods, handed over material aids to Mr. Boontham Lertsukekasem, Director-General of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation in Bangkok.
Mr. Boontham thanked Thai private companies including CP Group and CP Foods as well as Thai citizens for their prompt assistance in enabling the department to gather rescue crews as well as search and rescue tools and equipment within two days. Thailand government agencies and private sector have joined forces to provide humanitarian reliefs to earthquake victims in Turkey in response to the request from the Turkish Embassy in Thailand. The USAR Thailand, along with tools and material aids, is set to mobilize to Turkey on February 9. The teams carry on search and rescue operations under the mission theme “Thailand for Turkey” for ten days.
CEO of CP Foods said the company was deeply saddened by the devastating earthquake that struck in Turkey and Syria, the company has delivered emergency aid and survival bags to those hit by the disaster. Additionally, the company set up a temporary kitchen at its manufacturing facility to prepare food for the rescue teams and provide aid to those in need. This effort is in line with the “3 Benefits” philosophy of CP Group, according to which the company is driven primarily by the benefit to the country and the public where the business operates, while the benefits of the organization coming last.
Recently, CP Group and CP Foods handed over 1,500 packs of ready to eat food and 5,000 bottles of drinking water worth over 400,000baht (equivalent to 11,870 USD) to the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation to support the 10-day rescue operation of 42 members of “USAR Thailand” as the relief efforts from Thailand. Moreover, True Corporation provided 50 TrueMoveH 5G sim cards with unlimited free call and data roaming to rescue team.
“The disaster barely affected CP Foods' Turkey office and operations because of the risk management measures in place, and all staff members are safe,” added Mr.Prasit. In addition, the company offered 2,000 TL financial aids to employees as well as temporary shelters for staff and their families as emergency relief aids. The company is also considering about the additional supports that are required for its staffs, clients as well as suppliers.
