Charoen Pokphand Group, the Charoen Pokphand Foundation for Rural Development, and Charoen Pokphand Foods Public Company Limited (CPF), in collaboration with the Japan Chamber of Commerce in Bangkok (JCCB), have expanded the “Raising Layers for Student Lunch" project to support nutritional needs and skill development in rural communities. The initiative aims to provide students in remote areas with access to high-quality protein sources while simultaneously offering educational opportunities in layer farming, empowering youth with valuable agricultural and career skills.
Mr. Jomkitti Sirikul stated that the “Raising Layers for Student Lunch" project, has provided sufficient nutrition for students in remote areas for 36 years. So fare, the project has provided support to 988 schools nationwide, benefiting over 232,000 students and 16,500 teachers both directly and indirectly.
The project fosters experiential learning that extends beyond the classroom, empowering students and community members to develop comprehensive skills across the entire food production ecosystem. Participants gain practical experience in critical areas including animal husbandry, business management, financial accounting, sales and marketing strategies, value-added food processing, and the principles of sustainable social enterprise development.
Mr. Hiroyasu Sato highlighted the enduring collaboration between the Japan Chamber of Commerce in Bangkok (JCCB) and Charoen Pokphand Group, which marks its 25th consecutive year of project development. This year, the initiative has expanded to include 150 schools nationwide, with a strategic approach that goes beyond addressing malnutrition to fostering educational and economic self-sufficiency within schools and local communities.
Mr. Wararaj Ruengsri, Senior Expert at CPF, underscored the company's comprehensive commitment to the project. By providing financial resources and technical expertise, CPF aims to establish sustainable chicken farming and production management models in participating schools. The initiative's core objective is to enhance the nutritional health of Thai children and youth through consistent access to high-quality protein from eggs, with the potential to create a replicable blueprint for educational institutions nationwide.
Ms. Supawadee Palalerd, Principal of Ban Klong Chao Un School, highlighted the project's alignment with the Ministry of Education's strategic objectives. By ensuring students' access to sufficient and high-quality protein, the initiative directly contributes to improving students' nutritional health and learning readiness. Moreover, the project goes beyond nutrition, integrating practical, hands-on learning experiences that enrich students' educational journey and provide substantial qualitative benefits.
The "Raising Layers for Student Lunch" project exemplifies a long-standing, multi-stakeholder collaboration among CP Group, the Charoen Pokphand Foundation for Rural Development, and CPF.
