Charoen Pokphand Foods Public Company Limited (CP Foods) commits to responsible sourcing the agricultural raw materials used in the animal feed production from farmers and suppliers without deforestation to protect biodiversity and natural resources of Thailand and countries where the company is operated.

Mr. Wuthichai Sithipreedanant, Senior Vice President for Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainable Development of CP Foods, says biodiversity and forest sustainability are keys to the food security of people across the world. Therefore, the company has declared its commitment on Biodiversity and Zero Deforestation and developed a transparent traceability system to make sure that every CP Foods business unit in Thailand acquires ingredients from a sustainable source. Moreover, CP Foods has expanded this guideline to its overseas businesses since 2021.
Following this commitment, multiple efforts have been made to ensure that everyone in the company’s supply chain realize the importance of biodiversity and natural resources to food business. Mr. Wuthichai added that the company will host training courses to raise awareness on biodiversity among its suppliers in this year.
“CP Foods announces its commitment to protect and preserve biodiversity and attain zero deforestation. The purpose is to preserve our oceans and forests in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),” said Mr. Wuttichai.
Besides the sustainability commitment, the company has developed and implemented Biodiversity Management Plan and meanwhile supplier audits are carried out to assess to ensure that the source of the ingredient is not from deforested areas. This included “Self-Sufficient Farmers, Sustainable Corn” Projects that buy raw material only from plantation fields with legal land deeds and discourage farmers from burning the stubble.
Mr. Wuthichai added that, under the CPF 2030 Sustainability in Action plan, the company continues to conserve, protect, and restore watershed forests and mangrove forests via projects such as the second phase of the CPF Rak Nives at Phraya Doen Thong. Mountain Project, Lopburi province and The CPF Grow-Share-Protect Mangrove Forestation Project in Rayong, Samut Sakhon and Trat. These two projects, covering areas of 14,000 Rai, aims at making positive impact to the environment, the society and economy as well as reducing impact of climate change.
