Charoen Pokphand Foods Public Company Limited (CP Foods) supports forest fire prevention operations in an effort to solve smog and PM 2.5 crisis in the area of Doi Inthanon National Park, Chiang Mai Province. The company also donated food supplies and leaf blowers for making fire lines around the conservation forest areas.

Mr. Wuthichai Sithipreedanant, Senior Vice President for Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainable Development of CP Foods and the company representative at the event, said that the company has donated 12 leaf blowers to support the park officers’ effort to build fire line and prevent smog crisis. At the same time, CP Foods also gave away 60 packs of eggs as a mean to encourage Doi Inthanon park’s staffs and volunteers.

Mr. Wuttichai said that CP Foods affirms its commitment on sustainability, maintaining balance of nature and biodiversity. Therefore, the company agreed to aid the mission of the park officials in forest fire prevention and take care of the forest in Doi Inthanon National Park in Chiang Mai Province, which is considered a very important natural resource in Thailand. This is in line with the CPF 2030 Sustainability in Action strategy and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs to contribute in biodiversity protection,

“The company is aware of the impact of forest fires, smog and PM 2.5 as major causes that damaged not only the environment, but also the health of both humans and animals. This collaborative effort is to support the work of government officials in protecting resources and biodiversity to create a balance of nature and good quality of life for Thai people in a sustainable way," said Mr. Wutthichai.

Aside this mission, CP Foods ha made multiple efforts to protect and conserve over 10,000 rai of mangrove forest and watershed forest across the country.  Moreover, 100% of the key ingredients, such as corn, palm oil, soybeans, cassava, etc., comes from areas that have been verified deforestation-free.

Park chief Kriengkrai Chaisek said that Doi Inthanon National Park Office has a mission to conserve natural resources and the environment. Due to the frequent forest fire in the summer, Doi Inthanon National Park has teamed up with community leaders and people in the area to build up a fire barrier around the protected forest area. However, there is still a shortage of leaf blowers to create fire line and to extinguish forest fires in the area and nearby districts. The donated equipment makes operations more efficient and reduces risks for park staff and volunteers.
