Mr. Prasit Boondoungprasert, Chief Executive Officer of Charoen Pokphand Foods PCL (CP Foods), has stressed the importance of innovation in food industry as a key to ensure food safety and food security for consumers across the world.
This effort is also in line with the company’s vision to be a Kitchen of the world” as well as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Goal 2 : Zero hunger. Goal 3: Good health and well-being.
“Food safety and food security are two key issue in food industry. We must make food available and affordable for all level of consumers. Therefore, efficiency is the key factor to keep the price low.” Mr. Prasit said at Food for Good: Best Practices and Lessons Learned” forum at the recent VIV Asia Dinner Talk Event.
In this regard, the company must integrate technologies such as Cloud technology, AI, Robotics, and Internet of Things (IoT) to improve efficiency in all process from feed mill to table. He added that these technologies can also help the company to improve food safety and reduce repetitive task.
“Automation can reduce repetitive work so that the company can upskill people for doing something that is more creative, and value added.” he said.
Besides, Mr. Prasit added that the company strives to make food product under the concept “Put Our Heart into Food”, which is based on the company’s key principles – Innovation, People and Planet.
The concept reflects a dedication to deliver a wide range of high-quality, safe, and standardized products, through a responsible production process that highlights animal welfare, continuous food innovation development, customer satisfaction and environmental sustainability.
This reflects, though, products such as omega-3 rich Cheeva pork, which received the food innovation award at the ThaiFex-Anuga Asia 2020 trade exhibition.
CP Foods is currently served consumers in around 50 countries with 600-billion-baht revenue. In terms of ranking, it is 22nd largest in food sector and 7th in Meat sector.
