Anuwat Srichom, a young and dedicated animal husbandry worker, has amassed ten years of invaluable experience in the field. His journey, driven by ambition and hard work, has culminated in the successful establishment of his pig farm under the contract farming model with CP Foods.
During his second year as an Animal Science student at Mahasarakham University’s Faculty of Technology, a visit to a CP Foods' contract farming pig farm sparked a dream in Anuwat. He envisioned himself as a successful pig farm owner, a goal he relentlessly pursued.
Upon graduation in 2014, Anuwat began his career as a veterinarian at Charoen Pokphand Foods Company Limited (CP Foods), where he managed closed pig farms. Initially responsible for fattening pigs, he soon moved on to oversee the mixing and birthing units. Anuwat also worked on the Nong Wa Agricultural Village Project in Chachoengsao Province, where he gained comprehensive knowledge about contract farming management. His role later took him to CP Foods' farms in Khon Kaen and Nong Khai, allowing him to be closer to his pregnant wife while nurturing his dream of owning a pig farm.
Over a decade, Anuwat’s responsibilities grew, encompassing breeding and farrowing units, fattening pigs, young pigs, studs, and even sales. By 2023, equipped with extensive experience, he resigned from CP Foods to start his own contract farming venture. He founded Pannipa Farm Ltd. in Sum Sao Subdistrict, Phen District, Udon Thani Province, with CP Foods' support. The farm spans 10 rai and houses two barns, each with a capacity of 800 pigs, adhering to the Department of Livestock Development’s farm standards.
Anuwat emphasizes environmental control in the greenhouses, ensuring clean water, dust-free food, and optimal ventilation. He recalls the success of his first batch of pigs, raised from February to July, meeting all performance goals. “We prioritize the health of the piglets from the start, conducting regular health checks and separating sick pigs for treatment. This approach, combined with stimulating the pigs’ appetite by mixing food with water, has resulted in healthy, well-growing pigs with a damage rate of less than 1%,” Anuwat noted.
Pannipa Farm Ltd. employs modern farm management practices under the Smart Farm model. The farm features an Auto Feed system, cooling PAD, water control systems, and CCTV, reducing the need for direct greenhouse entry and enhancing disease prevention. Anuwat also plans to install solar cells to generate electricity for the farm.
“Our farm operates under CP Foods' 'Green Farm' standards, following a green business model that prioritizes environmental friendliness,” Anuwat explained. The farm uses a 100% biogas system and plans to install an odor filter system. Additionally, the “Project to Share Fertilizer Water to Farmers” initiative distributes treated water to nearby farmers for their plantations, reducing fertilizer costs by providing dried excrement from the biogas system.
Today, Anuwat has realized his dream of owning a business and being with his family, laying a strong foundation for his child’s future. He believes that his son, growing up around the family’s pig farming business, will carry on this legacy.
