Ban Tha Luang School, a medium-sized school in Nakhon Ratchasima province, is one of 302 schools participating in the CONNEXT ED educational integration project. The school collaborates with CP Foods Public Company Limited (CP) under the shared vision of recognizing the importance of promoting essential skills for students to cope with technological changes in the 21st century. The project involves the collaboration of the school's new educational leaders (School Partner: SP) with CP's management.
The school's educational development emphasizes coding or computer programming, leading to innovation in problem-solving and creative thinking. Following the National Standards set by the Ministry of Education, the curriculum focuses on systematically developing students' thinking skills. Ban Tha Luang School has integrated the use of "Micro bit" into its coding projects, allowing students to program the Micro bit board to display desired outcomes. Additionally, the school has established a learning network with nearby schools and communities, aligning with its commitment to diverse learning activities, employing Active Learning as the primary teaching method, and prioritizing student-centered learning.
Ms. Siriya Manok, the school director, stated that budget support has been crucial for implementing innovative activities aligned with the changing technological landscape. The outcomes have positively impacted students' learning experiences, providing hands-on learning opportunities with equipment and collaborative learning processes. Teachers receive training from experts to impart knowledge to students and extend the network to neighboring schools, benefiting four additional schools.
The school expects that students participating in these activities will develop systematic thinking skills in programming and collaborative group work. As the program progresses, new students will join, and those with foundational knowledge will face more challenging tasks related to coding skills, such as planning, problem-solving based on given missions, memorizing code commands, and designing various instructions, like lifting objects with robots.
The school sees the CONNEXT ED initiative as a valuable opportunity to contribute to raising the quality of Thai education to international standards and participating in the sustainable development of the country.
