Charoen Pokphand Foods Public Company Limited (CP Foods) continues to pursue its greenhouse gas reduction targets towards becoming "Low Carbon Organization" in an effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions per unit of production by 25% within 2025 compared with base year 2015.
Recently, Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (Public Organization)or TGO organized the "One Heart to Reduce Global Warming" event to synergized between the public sector, the private sector and the community with a goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions within the country as well as giving certificates and plaques to the private sector who undertake various activities to support the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, such as carbon offset activities, Carbon Footprint and Global Warming Reduction Labels. CP Foods is one of the private sectors that has participated continuously.
At this event, CP Foods as awarded a certificate from TGO for participating in various activities such as Carbon Reduction Label for Broiler products, Carbon Footprint Label for Chili sauce and 8 ketchup, 36 Carbon Neutral Men, Carbon Offset at “CPF Run for Charity”.
Also, 60 of its operations are certified in the Low Emission Support Scheme (LESS), with a total of 16,910 trees that can store 5,989 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent. So far, CP Foods has already achieved a 15% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions target in 2019 compared to the base year 2015.
The company will continue to promote the use of renewable energy, increasing the efficiency of water use throughout the production process, reducing the use of unnecessary plastic packaging throughout the value chain, and etc.
In addition, CPF continues to operate in line with the direction and goals of the Charoen Pokphand Group to become one of the world's leaders in sustainability, aiming to be a Zero Waste organization, reducing waste and waste to zero.
CP Foods is committed to continuously developing sustainable products. This year, 6 broiler feed products received a carbon footprint reduction labels, reducing greenhouse gas emissions from the reduction of raw materials and energy consumption by 77,500 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent in 2019 or equals to planting 1,280,000 trees.
