Charoen Pokphand Foods PCL (CPF) joined forces with the Royal Thai Police Association to offer free meals to taxi drivers impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The COVID-19 relief project called ““Safe Food from the Heart to Taxi drivers” was held at the Royal Thai Police Sports Club on Vibhavadi Rangsit Road.
Pol.Gen.Winai Thongsong, as a president of the Royal Thai Police Association, pointed that many of the drivers are under stress due to the on-going crisis. Subsequently, the joint project is initiated to help lessening the financial burden on drivers who have been losing clients since the outbreak.
Meanwhile, Mr.Prasit Boondoungprasert, chief executive officer of CPF, added that the company strives to ensure food security for people in Bangkok. As a result, it has been dispatched its food truck to hand out free ready-to-eat meals to low-income people in six districts of Bangkok namely Bangkok Noi, Bangphlat, Huai Kwang, Bangkhunthian, Bang Bon, and Nong Khaem, as well as a group of people who have been hit hard by the coronavirus like Taxi drivers.
He added that CPF food truck can reheat a hundred packs of food in a few minutes, making it easy to distribute food to many of drivers in a short period of time.
In addition to the food giveaway, its alliances including, Osotspa and Mc Jeans also provided free drink from M Sport and fabric mask to the drivers respectively.
The food truck project is among many COVID-19 relief efforts made by the company, as a good corporate citizen philosophy that placed importance on well-being of the country and its people.
Previously, CPF has partnered with government agencies to provide food for frontline medical staffs in public hospitals, families of frontline nurses and doctors, individuals returned from abroad to self-quarantines, village health volunteers and people in need across Thailand.
