CPF & PIM jointly grant scholarship to develop world-class Animal-Farm and Food-Processing professionals

Bangkok (August 24, 2018) – Charoen Pokphand Foods Public Company Limited (CPF) and the Faculty of Agro-Industry, Panyapiwat Institute of Management (PIM) jointly hold this inaugural CPF Scholarship Day 2018 to grant 48 scholarships to Thai and foreign students to develop world-class professional human resources to intensify its sustainable agro-industrial and food businesses.

2018 is the first time that the English Program has been fully implemented with an objective to provide opportunities for CPF’s overseas students from 17 countries to come and study in Thailand. A total of 15 students from India, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Myanmar, Philippines, and Viet Nam have been admitted.  These foreign students will study alongside 33 Thai students to earn a 4-year Bachelor of Science Degree in Farm Technology Management, and/or in Food-Processing Technology Management.

Mr.Sooksunt Jiumjaiswanglerg, Chief Executive Officer of CPF’s Agro Industrial Business and Co-President addressed the company’s initiative to create a new generation of employee who can work right after graduation. Both Thai and foreign students will study theoretical courses at PIM, and then do the practicum courses in CPF’s world-class farms and food-processing plants, in order to fulfill this professional knowledge and experiences. These new graduates will be ready to support CPF’s business growth and expansion either in Thailand and/or in all the countries that CPF are investing.

“It is an important policy that CPF operates its businesses with the ‘Three Benefits to Sustainability’ philosophy: benefit to Thailand and all countries that CPF are investing, benefit to the people of every country, and lastly, benefit to our company. It is a CPF core-value in developing sustainable businesses.” Mr. Sooksunt stated.

Furthermore, Mr. Sooksunt pointed out that, after graduation, these foreign students will return to work for CPF’s businesses in their home countries. They will be well equipped with knowledge and experience from the CPF Headquarter in Thailand, to develop his or her own country in terms of economics, social, and the environment.  For Thai students, they can work in Thailand or work in any country worldwide.

Mr.Sukhawat Dansermsuk, Chief Executive Officer of CPF’s Food Business and Co-President said the company has successful farm businesses leading to quality food products, adhering to all related international standards.  We place emphasis on creating innovations in animal farms all the way to the cutting edge food-processing that utilize world-class state-of-the-art technology. Therefore, both Thai and foreign students who have had the opportunity to learn the full integration of CPF’s businesses, will after graduation, take part in developing excellent animal farms, as well as excellent food-processing systems. This will uplift the overall food operation to become the ‘Kitchen of the World’.  Thai and foreign graduates will maximize the utilization of their knowledge and experiences in his or her own country, leading to the growth and prosperity of CPF food businesses worldwide, they can apply them to generate benefits for the economy and social wellbeing in their countries.

Mr. Sukhawat also stated that the “Workforce is the root and heart of a success business. CPF employees must be able to create benefit to society.  We must create new menus with nutrients and taste that are good for health to all ages: children, adults, and the elderly. All students of the Faculty of Agro-Industry, Panyapiwat Institute of Management who receive scholarship from CPF and educated by CPF professionals, have practicum in actual CPF farms and food-processing plants, will have potential to create food innovations and create new food products to support mankind, and grow the operation of CPF, to be CP 4.0 according to the governmental Thailand 4.0 policy.

Dr. Tiranun Srikanchai, Dean of the Faculty of Agro-Industry (AGI), PIM, continued that the Work Based Education, where students study in classroom for 3 months and then switch to practicum training in the actual environment throughout the 4-year of education, with the ratio of theory 45% and practicum 55%. This will enable graduates to be ready-to-work effectively in farms and food-processing plants right after graduation. PIM is the first Corporate University in Thailand and PIM’s vision regarding the Work-Based Education is a new direction of education that will mix theory and practices with an equal ratio. Thai graduates will be able to be part of Thailand’s development to become a ‘developed country’, and foreign graduates will return to their countries to develop our world-class competitiveness.

The Farm Technology Management and Food Processing Technology Management programs had been jointly developed by more than 100 CPF professionals together with PIM’s educational committee. The curriculum of the program conform to actual world-class industrial animal farming practices, as well as the world-class actual industrial food-processing processes.

“More than 100 professionals from CPF have been appointed as part time teachers at the Faculty of Agro-Industry and carry along their professional experiences to teach one or more subjects. The most distinctive approach is that students have the opportunities to be trained in the company’s world-class farms and food processing plants where students will experience the actual environment and solve actual problems. I trust that Graduates from the Faculty of Agro-Industry will be able to work effectively right after graduation”, noted by Dr. Tiranun.
