Chaing Mai Provincial Livestock Office delivered the food safety certification under "Livestock OK" mark to 22 owners of CP Pork Shop in many areas of Chaing Mai.
Mr. Suradej Samiprem, Provincial Livestock of Chaing Mai, said the Livestock Development Department has stepped toward through its quality and meat standard policy. Particularly, "Safety Meat Project" under "Livestock OK" mark, which drew to upgrade safety standard of meat from farm to table. Under the policy, livestock farm should strictly undertake Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), meat has to come from certified slaughterhouse and delivery to quaranteed butcher shops too.
" The Livestock OK mark is designed to guarantee consumers on selling point of quality meat that come from standard farm without anti-biotic treat and beta-agonist to enhance redder meat. The department would like to praise all of those CP Pork Shop owners to follow the department's regulations and standards," he pointed.
CP Pork Shop was initiated by Charoen Pokphand Foods Plc (CPF) to encourage small operator to realise more on food safety standard of pork. This is to ensure quality meat to consumers in Chaing mai as well as Thai people nationwide. Meat sells in the shop will be controlled temperature and traceaced back to the source where they come from.
Mr. Chatchawal Panya, district chief officer of Fang, Chiang Mai, said the certification has celebrated the cooperation among government, community and private sector to sucessful deliver high quality meat to consumers in the province. The government will expand such kind of standard selling point into fresh market as well as community in rural areas.
Mr. Wirat Tanyong, Vice President of CPF, added that as a leading livestock producer, the company has strong vision through "Kitchen of the World" to process food safety in accordance to international standard. Consequently, traceability practices have been implemented from upstream to downstream. "CP Pork Shop" is designed not only to sell quality pork but also create people in community to have steady income which directly benefit to consumer and the Kingdom.
