Charoen Pokphand Foods PCL (CPF) honored its employees with an outstanding dedication to community development at “Three Benefits to Sustainability Awards 2018”
Mr. Sooksunt Jiumjaiswanglerg, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) - Agro Industrial Business and Co-President at CPF, presided over the awards ceremony. He noted that the ceremony is held to honor the employees who dedicated themselves to develop the community. The winning projects will inspire other CPF operations to follows their successes.
The project‘s goals is to put the company core philosophy “the Three Benefits toward Sustainability” into practice by the help of its own employees.
“It is not only about benefiting the company, but we also take into consideration our responsibility for the environment and the society, especially in the areas of CPF operations. Our farms and plants can use their expertise to improve the community’s quality of life and growing our business at the same time” Mr. Sooksant said.
Mr.Wuthichai Sithipreedanant, Senior Vice President – Social Responsibility and Sustainability Development of CPF, added that the internal sustainability awards ceremony aims to cultivate and encourage employees to engage with the local community. It is important for them to recognize that people in the community are the part of our CPF’s family that we also need to take care of.
In this edition, 32 business units competed in 6 award categories included Food Security, Self-Sufficient Society, Balance of Nature, Supporting Employee Livelihood, Improving Working Environment and Developing Responsible Supply Chain.
The winners were selected by internal and prestige external judges from different background such as NGO, Government and specialists from The National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (NECTEC)
Mr.Boonchien Phallaphat, Assistant Vice President at CPF and Project Leader for Banmai Samrong School’s Growing Happiness, Growing Futures, one of the sustainability award winners, explained the project has been set to tackle malnutrition issue within CPF’s operation area.
The local students were suffered from malnutrition since the schools are unable to access safe and nutritious foods. The company came in, using expertise in food industry, to help them tackle the problem.
The students learn to grow vegetable and raising layers chicken. This helps the school’s undernutrition issue to drop to zero.
In addition to the awards, two potential schools, Banmai Samrong School in Nakhon Ratchasima, and Ban Khlong Khayaeng School in Kamphaeng Phet, were evaluated and selected to be the prototype learning centers for food and nutrition for both within schools and surrounding communities.
The selection was made to promote food consumption with quality, safety and nutrition, as well as stimulating continuous knowledge sharing.
