CPF named outstanding employer for people with disabilities for 2 consecutive years

December 3, 2018 -- The Ministry of Social Development and Human Security granted the Outstanding Disability Employer 2018 plaque to Charoen Pokphand Foods PLC (CP Foods) and 16 subsidiaries as an acknowledgement for its contributions to the disability community. The company received this honourable recognition for second year in a row.

 

Mr.Parisothat Punnabhum, CP Foods' Senior Executive Vice President for human resources of the company, said the company aims to promotes persons with disabilities’ quality of life based on it philosophy to build Self-Sufficient Society.

 

He added that CP Foods and Charoen Pokphand Group have achieved a goal in creating more jobs for the disabled instead of contribution to disability fund, allowing them to be self-dependent, support their families and lift the quality of life. Ultimately, CP Foods believes that this approach will lead to sustainable social development. 


“The company is proud of the contributions to persons with disabilities. Besides offering stable jobs and income, we have also encouraged disable people to be self-dependent, and gaining access to social services and opportunities. They have become valuable members of company and society that they work with,” Mr. Parisothat said.

 

As of 2018, the company and its subsidiaries employs 733 employees with disabilities. The employees are working in its operation and community services, such as school for the deaf, temple, and Sub-district Health Promoting Hospital, nationwide.

 

Mr.Parisothat added that the company representatives are frequently making a community visit to ensure that all of them are living comfortably and receiving well treated.

 

 

The key highlight for this year is a workshop program to improve awareness on workplace safety and social welfare. The training program, tailor-made for the employees with disabilities, helps them to learn how to access the government welfare such as Disability Living Allowance Health Care, supporting equipment and Etc. as well as improving their occupational safety.

 

The company also delighted to announce that Mrs. Ratree Pantamung, one of the company’s disabled employees, was nominated as a role models for people with disabilities of Saraburi province this year.
 

CP Foods has a policy to supports disability communities in 3 aspects, including: 1) Employ persons with disabilities for its nationwide offices 2) Together with community offices and public organizations for the disabilities, hire the disabled to carry out tasks in their own communities like schools, temples, Tambon health promotion hospitals and local administrative offices. This includes the hiring of a national wheelchair basketball athlete as an employee and extends him the financial support during his training and international tournaments such as the recent SEA games in Indonesia. 3) Employ the disabled under Section 35 by allocating them space to market their products in the company’s factories and offices.
