The Department of Livestock Development certifies “Livestock OK” mark to 4,000 shops nationwide which partly manages by Charoen Pokphand Foods PLC (CPF) aims at improving food safety throughout the pork chain.

Mr.Somchuan Ratanamungklanon, Deputy Director General at Department of Livestock Developments, said quality and safety improvement for livestock products is one of Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives’ main policy.

In 2017, the department has achieved the target of approving 4,000 meat shops nationwide including CP Pork Shop runs by CPF. In addition, the department determines to extend Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) standard to livestock farming such as dairy cattle, broiler, layer, duck and pig farming and etc.

“Livestock OK mark draws to set the new standard for livestock quality throughout the supply chain. CPF is one of the significant parties to drive this scheme to ensure food safety,” noted Mr.Somchuan.  

Mr. Sumart Rungkamjad, CPF's Senior Vice President, said it is the company’s goal to provide quality and safe pork products to consumers. The company always encourages pig farmers to apply for GAP standard. Moreover, CPF also urges CP Pork Shop’s owner to apply ‘Livestock OK’ that concern on the use of antibiotics, Beta-agonist and growth hormone. The standard aims to ensure that the consumers will received clean and quality foods that can be trace back to the source of raw materials.

“CPF has conducted seminar to provide knowledge and standard of CP Pork Shop as well as the Livestock OK practices to ensure the shop’s owner realize more on food safety standard and ready for the implementation,” he added.

CP Pork Shop scheme were initiated by CPF to generate revenue for those owners. In addition, it will also allow people in community everywhere to have safety meat and traceability through quality food chain.
